Hacken's baby is 6.5 pounds and named Ryan

October 24, 2007, 4.31pm (on.cc)

Hacken gets a boy on his first try. Wife Emily gave birth to a 6.5 pounds baby boy on the 22nd October via Ceasarean. Both mother and son are safe. Hacken accompanied his wife into the delivery room and witnessed his baby being born. The couple is very happy and Hacken has named his son Ryan, but has not yet confirmed the Chinese name.

(adding on to the previous translation)

Hacken's son is named Ryan, similar to that of Manchester United footballer, Ryan Giggs, indicating that Hacken is a true blue soccer fan. Hacken has been spending the past few days with Emily, happily giving out cigars. When news of Hacken's son broke last night, he especially asked Alan Tam, someone whom he has a fatherly relationship with, to break the news to the media and share the joy.

Hacken, who is 39, has always kept his life low-profile. He ended 14 years of courtship with Emily last November and the wedding took place under huge secrecy. This time when giving birth, there were different news sources which indicated that the baby would only be born in early November. In fact, Emily had already been secretly admitted into the hopital and had secretly given birth with the news only filtering out last night. Yesterday, a huge group of reporters gathered outside the hospital, but did not see Hacken at all. However, they saw other celebrities like Nat Chan and his wife, Ada Choi, Monica Chan and Edmond Leung appearing. Nat Chan even took out the cigar Hacken gave him to take photos.

When Nat was asked who the baby looked like, he jokingly said that it looked like neither of them, and that the baby looked like him. :) Nat said that he will chip in with a group of friends to buy presents for Ryan and he said it was Emily who called him to tell him about the news. Nat stayed for about 20 minutes before leaving with a cigar that has Ryan's name printed on it.

When Andy Lau, who is holding a concert in Taiwan currently heard the news, he said he felt happy for Hacken and hoped he will work hard and have 2 kids in 3 years.

[Note: It was suspected that Ada was there to visit Emily as Ada was one of Emily's bridesmaids when she got married, but recent reports indicated that Ada had gone for a surgery to remove a boil on her vocal cords, caused by excessive screaming scenes while filming for Jewel Splendour. Ada can't speak for 2 weeks.]

Alan, who is curerntly in Suzhou was tasked by Hacken to announce the news to the media via a long distance call. Alan happily said that Hacken was 'yi neng's' (artiste management company?) real son and it's like he himself has a grandson. After Hacken became a father, the first thing he did was to call Alan to tell him the news. As the baby was born earlier than expected, both Hacken and Emily are a bit caught up with the baby. As Hacken is busy taking care of Emily and Ryan, he will give the details to the media later.

When asked who the baby looked like, Alan said that the baby's look changes with him looking like Emily the first day, then like Hacken the 2nd and back to looking like Emily on the 3rd day. When asked what gifts Alan would give Hacken, Alan said he would know what to do and whatever Nicholas Tse has, Hacken will also have. He would go visit Hacken and the baby immediately after he returns to Hong Kong.

When asked what tips he has to impart to Hacken, Alan said to tell Hacken to be careful in everything he does and he must hold the baby's head carefully when carrying the baby and not to scare the baby. He also asked everyone not to worry as both Hacken's and Emily's parents will be around and it would be more assuring that the older generation is around to help them take care of the baby.

Hacken denies buying an 8 carat diamond for Emily

October 22, 2007

Hacken, Joey Yung, Tiffany Lee and others attended a charity event for Ren Ai 2 nights ago where 13 million was raised. In response to a previous magazine report that Hacken's good friend, Chan Kwok Keung, Alan Tam and Nat Chan would shower expensive items on his baby, as well as Hacken himself buying an 8 carat diamond for Emily and a diamond pacifier for his baby, Hacken clarified that he has never recieved the gifts mentioned in the report. He emphasized that one shouldn't bring up money matters amongst friends. Hacken said: "If this is true, then I wouldn't need to work anymore. Have a kid every year and I won't have to hold any more concerts." (haha!! =P)

When asked whether his friends were waiting for the baby to be born before showing up with gifts, Hacken said "we don't talk about all this after knowing each other for so many years. When I got married, we also don't talk about money matters. It is enough that friends send their blessings. In addition, babies do not need such expensive gifts. He should earn it himself when he grows up. I will concentrate and put my efforts on holding my concert. Since everyone seems so concerned about me having my baby, I'm considering calling my concert 'Hacken Lee Infant Education Concert' (joking!)" When asked whether he was going to play video clips of his son during the concert, Hacken said he tries not to keep such a high profile and has no such plans yet, but also said he may be so happy that he would consider doing it. Andy Lau also asked him to decorate his stage such that it looks like his house so that his whole family can be at the concert happily.

When asked about the 8 carat diamond gift to Emily, Hacken was silent for a while, then nodded briefly, but then said "Of course not!"

The arrival of Hacken’s baby boy is welcomed by money, cars, and diamonds from the rich

October 18, 2007

Volume 919 Next Magazine

Since the start of 2007 when Emily Lo was pregnant, faithful husband Hacken Lee got very anxious and stopped the production of his Mandarin album which he was supposed to release in the second half of the year. In June, when he found out that his baby is a boy, he composed a song as a gift for him.

Able to bear a male child in the first birth, Hacken made arrangements to ensure a good life for his baby. He already picked a good day to accompany his wife to the hospital to give birth. As a reward for her hard work, Hacken bought her an 8 carat diamond ring, and even had a gift for his baby – a diamond-shaped pacifier as his first gift. The baby’s father was very generous indeed but a group of godfathers were also as generous as him. His good friend, Chan Kwok Keung agreed to set up a scholarship for the baby. Nat Chan gave him a car and Alan Tam gave him diamonds. When the Golden Pig Baby arrives, he will be welcomed with many gifts from the rich!

Alan backs up Hacken

Early this year, on knowing that she is pregnant, Emily stayed at home for the first 3 months to stabilize the baby. She referred to many guidebooks and paid attention to the growth of her baby. She was very anxious too. Emily could not decide whether if she wants to have a normal delivery or undergo a cesarean section. However, Hacken is afraid that his wife of 34 years old will have to undergo pain and he also wants to choose a good day for the delivering of his baby. In the end, he decided to accompany his wife for the cesarean section next week.

Nothing is more important than the birth of his baby. Even as "TVB’s godson", Hacken would rather spend the time with his wife and newborn baby and thus rejected the Jade Singers Anniversary Celebration on November 3rd. As Hacken had been one of the focuses in this celebration, and was even the commander for the last 2 years, his absence this time is backed by “father” Alan Tam. However, if time allows, Hacken will still attend grand celebrations by TVB. He is going to attend the Yan Oi Tong charity show coming October 20 even though he is going to accompany his wife to the hospital soon. He will do his best till the end.

Delivering soon, Emily has decreased the number of outings in the past 3 weeks and Hacken reminded her to have ample rest. Most of the time, their driver and maid would help them with the shopping. On Sunday, Hacken’s maid had traveled by car to Sai Kung to buy seafood.

Big money spent

Hacken’s baby has not yet arrived but a group of godfathers are already queuing up to present him with gifts. They are very generous both this time and during Hacken’s marriage last year. Within a year, he received manyexpensive gifts!

Chan Kwok Keung:
Sponsored 100 million for the group of 15 people (including Hacken and Emily) to shoot their wedding photos in Manchester United's home ground, England.

Alan Tam:
Gave the money during their marriage, diamonds, and even sang at his wedding. He gave out a 7 figured sum in total. (It was mentioned before that to invite Alan to sing, people have to give him 7 figured sums…so him singing his Hacken’s wedding was expensive indeed!)

Andy Lau:
A digital photo album and lots of cash during their marriage was the most appropriate gift.

Touring Japan

Before the baby is born, first time daddy Hacken Lee had drawn up lots of plans. A soccer fan, he revealed in his lyrics that he will teach his child soccer. The truth is that he had planned to bring his father (also a soccer fan), wife and son to North Africa to watch the World Cup – 3 generations watching the match together!

Before the trip to North Africa, in July, Hacken and his wife who was bearing the child went to Japan for 8 days. Bearing the baby, Emily brought along a foldable stool which could also be used as a walking staff. It’s tiring for her to walk around being pregnant, and she would be able to sit when she gets tired. During the trip, the couple also ordered a luxurious baby stroller.

A good day

People in the entertainment circle are superstitious. They believe that by choosing a good day and time for the caesarean section, it will guarantee a good life for the baby. It is like a formality.

Hacken has engaged the help of masters to choose a good day for the operation. According to one master, Hacken whose zodiac is goat and Emily, whose zodiac is the ox, have the best delivery date on the ninth month and fourteenth day of the lunar calendar, which is on October 24. The baby born on that will be straightforward, having aspiration and integrity as well as power. The child will be successful and independent, achieving and building a family without being dependent on his own family. If it is a girl, she will be able to take charge of things. To Hacken, it’s definitely a good day for his baby boy.

As Hacken will be performing in his concert as a father for the first time next year, the producer suggested filming moments of his family after the baby’s birth and sharing it at his concert in February. Hacken agreed, and will be filming it himself, since he likes to recording video and photography.

Nat Chan and his wife gave him a 7-seater besides baby clothes which will make it easier for them to bring the baby around. As for Alan Tam, he already bought diamonds for Hacken’s baby. The baby is indeed fortunate to have all the love centered on him!

Hacken reveals that he was eliminated from the role of Guo Jing during auditions

October 14, 2007

The International Grand Ceremony of Chinese Martial Arts took place at Shenzhen on the night before. Besides having Martial Arts stars, the organizations presented Mr. Jin Yong with the “Chinese Martial Arts Highest Reputation” award, and Hacken Lee was invited as the performing guest. He sang many theme songs of dramas which were adapted from martial arts novelist Jin Yong. Hacken and Chan Yuk Lin later presented flowers to Jin Yong.

Hacken comments that his forte does not lie in martial arts and would rather stick to singing theme songs for martial arts dramas. He has almost no affinity with the martial arts world: the closest was when it came to the filming of The Legend of The Condor Heroes, he was scheduled to audition for the role of Guo Jing. Hacken cannot accept his image in the show, especially the head dress he had to put on. Hence, he rejected the role immediately. In the end, the role of Guo Jing was given to Julian Cheung (male lead) and the female lead was played by Athena Chu. Did he regret giving up the chance? “If I had filmed [it], TVB might regret instead as there could be low ratings brought about by me.”

Hacken jokes, saying that among the various guests that night, he could be the only one who does not know martial arts. He admires the hard work of action stars, and feels that being a singer is fortunate. He compares his talent for martial arts to how he dances; he can never hold a candle to Aaron Kwok.

Since young, Hacken is a fan of Jin Yong and has read all of his works. For some novels, he has even read them more than 3 to 4 times.

On Lydia Shum’s condition, Hacken expressed his concerns. He hopes that she can get well soon. With desperation, he said “Hopefully, the media can provide her with freedom. It’s really harsh for her, it’s best if they can understand [be understanding to] the patient!”

Emma Lam

Patrick Tang (鄧健泓) has seen his popularity rise once again after hosting the successful TVB food quiz Foodie 2 Shoes <味分高下>.

Eager to progress once again in his first love of music and thanks to his managers at TVB, Patrick has returned to his previous record company Go East records after four years away. This was marked in a special "Welcome Back" ceremony today, hosted by TVB big sis Carol Cheng (鄭裕玲) and attended by TVB executives Stephen Chan (陳志雲) and Virginia Lok (樂易玲). Go East big brother Hacken Lee (李克勤) was the special guest and he presented Patrick with th gift of a big red cushion, wishing him a comfortable life with no more worries.

Patrick's eight hostesses from his show, the "Angels of Taste", also made an appearance at the event, presenting him with gifts of foods representing sweet, sour, bitter and hot, signifying that the sweets will come after the bitterness.

Some clips from parent company Universal's other singers were shown at the ceremony and also a special congratulatory clip from Patrick's former girlfriend and good friend Marsha Yuen (原子鏸). Marsha said that she will always remember the way he taught her to sing to protect her throat and said that she and their pet dog Seth will be supporting him. When Patrick saw the clip, he became very emotional and began to cry. Asked if he was missing his ex-girlfriend, he explained that she had taken Seth to live with her in Shanghai, so he cannot see them very often any more. He said that he hopes she will move back to New York later because she will be more comfortable there.

Asked if he is worried about his girlfriend Selena Li (李詩韻) being jealous of him crying over his ex, he replied that this is not the case because he was crying over the dog. He added that Selena had sent him a text message earlier to congratulate him.

Patrick hopes that his return to the Hong Kong music scene will allow more people to enjoy his songs.

Hacken Charity Concert helps Family Bridges get donation

2007 Oct 7

Sponsored by Oakland's Family Bridges, "Hacken Lee Charity Concert" was held last night at San Francisco's Bill Graham Civic Auditorium. Hong Kong Superstar, Hacken is extraordinary, not only was the concert sold out, the fans were screaming ever so loudly, the atmosphere was at its top, Hacken promises his fans that he will sing till the minute he must board the plane, singing over 20 songs of old and new, also donating an autographed soccer ball and personal concert outfit for auction, it successfully gained US$6,300 donation, breaking the record from last year's performer, Alan Tam. The concert started around 7pm, it started with an award
ceremony, crowning the charity king and queen, and awaiting patiently, Hacken Lee kicks off the night.

Hacken sang over 20 songs, many classic songs, along with two new songs from his recent albums, songs include: Victory, Sentiment, Heart Heart Heart, Sky Water City, I will not sing, and many others, and a part where he sang many classic songs from other artists such as, Alan Tam's Little Problems, Sam Hui, and Danny Chan, causing the audience to listen with a smile and end with a scream.

Having been a singer for 23 years now, Hacken starts off by thanking everyone for their donation by buying a ticket to the concert, and he also says that in order to satisfy his long-time-no-see fans, he will sing till the very last minute, and then rush to the airport. He laughs and says, actually picking songs for a concert is very hard because if he sings a lot of classic songs, people will say that he sings the same song every time, but if he chooses new songs, people will say that they want to hear his classic songs.

Middle of the concert, an auctioning was held, Hacken personally donated a concert outfit and an autographed soccer ball, the concert outfit starting bid was US$2,000, after a few shouts, the outfit was sold for US$3,000 to Ms. Wong; as for the soccer ball, it was sold for US$3,300, totals to US$6,300, breaking last year's record of US$5,500 from Alan Tam's concert outfit.

After the concert was taken to another level, Hacken came down from the stage to shake hands with the fans, the fans also went forward to donate money and to shake hands. After returning to stage, Hacken thinks about his family, telling people he now has a family to take care of, and for this reason he has to rush to the airport right after the concert. Upon request, Hacken sang Performance Hall, sitting in front of the audience allowing them to take endless pictures and to shake hands, in the end, he sang Red Sun to complete the concert.

Hacken joins Regina Ip’s campaign team

September 30, 2007

“She dares to take up responsibilities”

Hacken explained in an interview that he had reasons for supporting Regina Ip. Earlier on, he had received a phone call from Regina Lau, who asked him to join her campaign team. After considering for a short period of time, he agreed.

Hacken also considered his identity as an artiste when joining the campaign team. He hopes to bring good influence to people and also more votes for Mrs. Ip. He describes his role in the team as a supporting role in a movie. A few years ago, Hacken publicly revealed his support for Mrs. Ip but was labeled as “bootlicker” by Albert Cheng. Regarding the bad remarks, he says that it is not anything bad to reveal who you support.

In the Basic Law competition, Hacken did not participate in the games but performed. He says “I’m already 39, (just 2 months and 6 days till 40) well beyond the age for games. But I’m bold enough to stand up and tell everyone that I will support Mrs. Ip. I’m good friends with her but that is not my reason for supporting her. I feel that she dares to take up challenges and responsibilities. But personally, I have no interest towards politics.”

If fans vote because they support him, will it be unfair? Hacken says “I don’t know how to answer this question. I’m just a small role; you need to ask Mrs. Ip for the details.” Is he afraid that the campaign might affect him? “I’ve not thought of this. I only revealed my support for her. It’s like registering for a vote, it’s nothing bad.”

(Regina Ip & Albert Cheng are politicians from HK, I don’t know much about the HK political scene, haha)
