[OLD NEWS]: Emily Lo (Hacken Lee's wife) believes that those who are innocent are free from guilt

Emily Lo believes that those who are innocent are free from guilt;
Before she steps down, she doesn’t feel any stress competing for Miss Universe

One year has passed by in the blink of an eye. In April, Emily Lo will be representing Hong Kong in the Miss Universe competition held in Mexico. After that, it will soon be time for her to pass the baton - passing on the title of Miss Hong Kong to the next lady to be crowned.

“Aye! This busy year has really passed very fast! I now truly realize what it means by “Ri Yue Ru Suo” (the days are nights passing very fast).”

Laughing at her, “Are you unwilling to step down?”

“No, it’s not that I am unwilling to do so. Every girl who wins the title will take on a similar path. I only wish that I can continue to shine after stepping down.” These were her heartfelt words.

Emily once announced that since achieving her title of Miss Hong Kong, the greatest reward is getting to know “God Brother” Hacken Lee. Seems like Emily does not remember rumours about her at heart and is generous.

Towards this, she says “I treat myself sincerely, really. I’m not afraid of any rumours. If they aren’t real, there’s no need for me to be calculative and avoid them.”

Just like Hacken Lee being her good friend, she will not end their friendship because there were rumours that they are going steady.

That’s why she admires the pair Sally Yip and George Lam.

“If you want to talk about stress, Sally Yip is facing much more of it. After all, George Lam is married!”

However, Sally and George still continue to be friends. Emily Lo believes that the innocent are free from guilt.

“Maybe Sally and George adopt the western thinking so they don’t mind what others have to say about them.”

Emily also agrees that to end a hard to come by friendship due to what others say is a pity.

“It is hard to find a friend who has chemistry with you, especially a ‘Male Partner who truly understands you’ that Sally Yip mentioned!”

Speaking about work on her trip in April, she says “I’ve sought my company’s advice, I will most likely be buying souvenirs which represent China for the organization and other contestants.”

Though most Hong Kong contestants do not win the competition when they go overseas, Emily feels that this should not be the reason for not putting in effort.

“On the other hand, I’m excited about the competition and I don’t feel any stress!”

She says she will do her best for the competition, but it doesn’t just boil down to getting an award or not.

“This is the last beauty pageant competition I’m competing in before I step down. I hope to do my best and have more great memories.”

Nat Chan's Olympics show was recording the night before last and guests included Shawn Yue, Monica Chan, Stephanie Cheng, Hins Cheung, Ivana Wong and Lawrence Cheng. Shawn Yue has alwys played basketball and he was full of confidence at the beginning of the show, and winning prizes by shooting baskets would be no hard task. All the other guests were relying on him to win and he failed 3 times. The first 2 times he only managed to get 1 basket out of 5 shots and so missed out on the prize. Nat Chan decided to loosen up the rules a bit and for Shawn's third and final chance, he was allowed to take a few steps forward. In the end he managed to get 3 baskets out of 5 shots, winning him and the other guests $5000 in prize money. No one left empty handed.

That night, Nat's other half Cecilia Wong was also watching the show. As for her birthday party earlier, it was said that Hacken and Emily were resting due to Emily's pregnancy and both declined the invitation. Reporters asked Cecilia for evidence and initially she replied "You go ask them!" but after more interrogation, she said "Of course I'm happy! (Do you know when the baby is due?) That I don't know! We haven't seen each other recently but we have talked over the phone. Her health is good. (Will you become the child's godmother?) No! I already have enough! (Have you prepared the baby's present yet?) When they got married I already gave them a big present! We should wait until they announce it themselves!"

On another note, Monica Chan reveals that she has been very unhappy recently. Of her 4 beloved dogs, two have passed away within a week of each other causing her to be very upset. It has also made her treasure the time she spends with her family. And so hearing that her father wanted to go to Jiu Zhai Gou for holidays, she planned to go with her whole family on vacation.

Alan laughs, possibly implying Hacken's about to be a father

Rumours are abounding that Hacken is about to be a father, but he has not replied officially to these rumors. He's also expressed that the first person to know will be Alan if the news is trie. Yesterday Alan appeared at a journalist conference for RTHK's "Super Trader", and was chased by the reporters for a comment on Hacken's rumours. Alan immediately rang Hacken to ask, and after hanging up, he didnt say anything, only laughed. After he accidentally said "Maybe in his house its taboo to talk about this!"...after which he realized he'd said the wrong thing, and could only laugh.

Alan, Nancy Sit and Priscillia Ku all attended the press conference for RTHK's new program "Super Trader", where they inducted the HK Trade Representative. Alan wore green in the appearance, joking he should give a big frog to Hacken: "Some people say frogs can test urine, if you want to know if Hacken is about to be a dad, you should go to his house and hear if there's a frog croaking"

Reporters said Hacken had told them the first person he would tell was Alan, and Alan replied he's just returned from Singapore and only found out reading reports, but was still uncertain at the moment. Reporters asked him to call Hacken to find out, and Alan told his assistant to call. On the phone, Alan said: "Because of you I'm surrounded by reporters!! How is it?....you cant tell me?", after which he quickly hung up, keeping a small smile on his face, and didn't dare to say anything else much, only constantly laughing. Reporters asked him what Hacken said? Alan replied: "He said he succeeded...I thought he meant succeeding in becoming a father, but he said he suceeded in passing the ball (of reporter pestering) to me!!"

Reporters kept asking Alan for an answer as to whether Hacken would soon be a father. He laughed and said: "I dont know! Maybe it's taboo to talk about it for him! (so that means yes?) (Alan laughs)...I dont know!" When asked whether he had taught Hacken to be like him and only reveal the existence of his child after eight years, he opened his eyes wide and said: "Each country has its laws, each family has its rules". As reporters continued to pester, he sealed his lips. Reporters said as soon as he hung up, he immediately stopped and didn't talk anymore, and Alan laughed: "So, beacuse there's nothing to talk about you can talk about anything? Better be careful with what you say, Hacken said he'd tell me in the afternoon." After this he insisted: "I haven't said anything. I dont want to lie....in the end, I really dont know."

Hacken Lee, who went as far as America to study for a short-term music course, has grown a moustache all over his face. This adds on a sense of maturity to his appearance. Crying For You is the first MV that Hacken is shooting after his trip back from America and he has invited Pauline Yeung to be the female lead.

As the venue is located around Sai Kung Tunnel, Hacken, Pauline, the crew and the reporters turned into food for the mosquitoes. Nobody felt good.

During the last scene of this MV, and also the most exciting part as this includes an explosion, everyone had to retreat by more than 30 meters. After the explosion, the crew had to extinguish the fire immediately. It’s a good thing that the whole MV was completed successfully.

When Hacken Lee returned to Hong Kong from America earlier, there was a huge change in his appearance. His hair has grown longer and he has a beard, a difference from his gentle style in the past. He feels that his original image has not changed much since he first entered the entertainment industry, and is tired of it.

This coincided with his trip to America for 9 months. As he need not face reporters and did not know many people there, he did not dress up frequently. Soon, his hair and beard grew longer, and he felt that it was interesting. Also, his image stylist felt that his new image suits his new album well. So, they might as well use this new “image”. However, after returning to Hong Kong, everyone had good and bad opinions about his new image.

For his trip to study music at America, Hacken has learnt a lot of things. Hacken is someone who can sing, no one doubts his ability to do so. But his teacher from America has corrected some of his flaws in singing, such as having too much vibration towards the ending of a line. The teacher told him that there’s nothing good in using vibrations blindly, it should be used at the appropriate time to better express the feeling of the song. Hacken agreed to his words too.

Releasing his new album this time, he has gathered what he had learnt in America. Hacken also says that this is one of the album that is closest to what he desires.

For all this time, Hacken Lee has given us the feeling that he is someone that is stable and careful with his words. However, the recent Hacken Lee has had a huge change in his appearance – he has grown a beard, long hair and his gestures have taken a 180 degrees change to become more relaxed and open. Seems like he has become more mature.

Perfectly Contented
Hacken says that he did not intentionally created this new image. Earlier on, he had been living in America for more than a month. He need not attend programmes, put on make up, nor face the media neatly and has recovered the true spirits of a man. Such times lasted for more than a month, and one day when he looked into the mirror, wow, he has become a manly guy.

“Many people have asked me why I became like this? Actually, it’s because every night in America, I would watch the NBA matches. I feel that the blacks are cool, and are manly. If a forty year old me is still singing, I would certainly shave my head.”

“Frankly speaking, I belong to the group of singers who have a longer lifespan in the industry. I’m not the idol type; no one will buy my albums because of my appearance. My good fortunes lies in not being old, even if I wait for chances year after year and nothing comes about, I won’t find it harsh. Because what I have now, many people might not be able to get it in their lifetime. I’m someone who certainly knows how to be contented.”

Appealing to the masses
Towards the media, Hacken has always been very open. He is not like some artists who feels that gossip magazines are irritating.

“Magazines are like songs, they are comparable with each other. If the mass of people like love songs, I will sing it. If people like to see Anita Mui and Zhao Wen Zhuo go steady, the reporters will track them. The problem is, are artists the only people who will have underground relationships and patronize night clubs? Actually, many other people do such things too. Just because the artist is a public figure, everybody is interested to know.
However, after 2 or 3 months, I’m afraid not many will remember that Wan Zi Liang has visited a night club, and no one will mention Li Lili. People are forgetful, aren’t they?”

“In the past, I was always giving in to the radio broadcast stations. The people working there said I should sing fast songs, and I followed their opinion and changed my mind. Actually, I should be giving in to people who buy my albums instead. They’re my true bosses. There’s no use in giving in to promoters.”

Hong Kongers seizing the opportunity
In his eyes, Hong Kongers are good at seizing opportunities. Be it entertainment or investments, they always take things to be short-termed, they will never view how things might be 10 years later, and will never think of what the next generation wants the society to be like.

“The people today blame everything on the 1997 crisis. If there wasn’t such a crisis, things would still be the same. This includes me, towards work; I plan on an annual basis.”

Besides this, Hacken took the role of a senior and pointed out daringly the bad points of the leaders in Hong Kong’s singing industry. For example, towards Andy Lau, he said “I would certainly not do a whole cover album. Because no matter how well I do, I’m not Shirley Kwan.” As for Aaron Kwok, he said “I feel like singing ‘Why Did I Let You Go’, if I am the one to sing it, I would put in more of my heart and soul.” And also, towards Faye Wong, he said “Have you noticed, although everyone feels that her voice is great, her only accomplished song is ‘The Woman Who Is Easily Hurt’, is ‘Like Wind’, the one which everybody says is a love song.” As for Vivian Chow, he said “I often tell her, do you know how many newcomers you have ‘killed’? This few years, every female singer imitates you, and each of them end up failing.”

Though Hacken’s opinions aren’t exactly new, they’re quite unique. In the past, would he have said such things?

Hacken has fun when responding to rumors of his wife being pregnant

There have been rumours recently of Emily Lo being pregnant. When approached the other night (JSG awards), Hacken neither denied nor confirmed the rumours. Instead he told reporters to ask him next time. This makes one feel that the news has not been publicised as the baby is not yet 3 months and give more credibility to the reports.

The night before last, Hacken attended the first rounds of the 2007 JSG awards ceremony. The MC seized the chance to ask Hacken about the good news. Hacken didn't answer directly and instead started to promote his new album but joking that making an album was like making a little baby. The due date is around June or July. After Hacken went backstage, reporters once again asked him and he did not deny it outright. Instead he continued to joke about the day of birth being around June or July, and that the producers of his album were the doctor and anesthetist. He said "People say that making an album is like giving birth. (Are you denying it?) I'll check later. I'll go to 7-11 and buy an iceblock (pregnancy test kit) and check. I've been busy recently so haven't had time to check." When asked if Hacken was worried that the baby was not yet 3 months and that was why he wasn't denying or confirming, Hacken sighed and said that the reporters couldn't write so much in one go and to ask him next time. And this gives the rumours more credibility.

Hacken's friends are all encouraging him and he indicates that he is trying his best. He even passed the ball to Alan Tam saying that if there was good news then he would be the first one told. Hacken went on to say "Ask Alan. He's like half my dad and loves answering things for people. He's also great at it like as if he was acting a part, if I let him announce it then it would all be very happy." When it was pointed out that Hacken was taking half a year off to be with his wife, he answered that no matter when, work that has been organized must be done. He laughed that with his life, he couldn't take a holiday, and the recording and release date of the album was set a lont time ago. In other news, Kay Tse who was pregnant did not perform that night. She thanked everyone for being understanding and as she was almost approaching 8 months, she has been attending pregnancy classes and planning for the baby.

There's recently been reports after Hacken Lee and Emily Lo tied the knot after a 15year relationship, his wife is now pregnant. This has made Hacken extremely nervous and he has decided to stop work for half a year to be with his wife. But yesterday, Hacken's assistant claimed that there was no such thing. So is Hacken worried about his baby not being 3 months yet and is concealing the news? Or is it just something the media concocted? Now we can only wait until Emily reveals herself before we can have an answer.

Yesterday the reports said that the newly married couple haven't yet told anyone but recently they have been successful (in getting pregnant). Reports go on to say that Emily was preparing well before the wedding. A year before marrying Hacken, she found a Chinese herbalist to make sure her body was in good health. And Hacken being excited about his wife getting pregnant has taken half a year off work to be with her.

Reports also indicated that Hacken was willing to give up several hundred thousand dollars of opportunities and decided to stop work for half a year. And even the album that was scheduled for October this year has been brought forward to be released in June. Even though he was invited to host "Minutes to Fame", because he needed more time for recording, he declined the job. Emily being pregnant could be possible as she usually accompanies Hacken when he goes to recording. These last two weeks, apart from work Hacken has always been at home with his wife. Last Saturday, Hacken went to the recording studio in Jordan and Emily was nowhere to be seen. This makes one wonder if Emily is trying to avoid the media.

To work out whether there was any truth to these reports, SingTao decided to call Hacken's assistant. The assistant said "Emily is not pregnant. The media is making up rubbish. Hacken is concentrating on recording his new album. (Reports say that because his wife is pregnant, Hacken has brought the release date forward to June?) Hacken is not stopping work, at the moment he is recording. And the album was meant to be scheduled for release in June in the first place. (Did Hacken decline job offeres?) No, Hacken recently went to mainland to film commercials. It's because he's been busy behind the scenes, that's why there's less appearances lately. These reports don't even have photos, what a joke!"
